Mavericks forward bought a $2M island in Belize

Small forward Reggie Bullock is in the second year of a three-year, $30.04 million contract he signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2021. It was the biggest contract of his career and the payoff from 10 years spent in the league playing for five different organizations, including the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

Bullock got paid, and he deserved it as one of the better role players in the league right now. With estimated career earnings of $38.3 million to date and more on the way, who could blame the longtime NBA forward for splurging a little?

Buy a car. A boat. A few investment properties. An island.

Wait, and island?

Talking to Marc Spears of Andscape, Bullock revealed that he recently purchased an island in Belize.

“I’ve been looking for different things to invest my money in,” Bullock said. “I found an opportunity down in Belize where I purchased an island that was about 5 acres that I am going to put resort villas on. It’s a vacation spot for me and my family where other people will be able to attend and enjoy different vacation activities.”

Perhaps not surprisingly, Bullock named his piece of paradise after himself. The small island is known as "Bullock Caye," and Bullock has big plans for it. He wants to build a 4,000-square-foot home for himself and his family plus villas that he can rent out to guests, as well as a restaurant, spa and other luxurious amenities.

“The water is beautiful,” Bullock said.

What a life.
