Marcus Morris refuses to comment on tenure with Clippers

Marcus Morris' time with the L.A. Clippers didn't go to plan.

The veteran forward spent the past three seasons in Los Angeles. However, he was surprisingly benched last April. He had rarely played for the Clippers since and hadn't suited up for the team to begin the new season. Morris was part of the trade that sent James Harden to the Clippers, with the Philadelphia native joining his hometown Sixers.

When speaking to Brian Robb of MassLive, Morris refused to dive into the situation in Los Angeles.

“Honestly, bro I don’t want to speak on that s***,” Morris said. “I’m happy to be home in Philly. I’m trying to get started and help the team win in any capacity and try to reach the goal and winning the championship...Being able to come home and being able to play in front of different fans, embracing the fans and embracing the fanbase, being able to see my family a lot, it’s going to be a different atmosphere for me.”

The Sixers appear to be better off with Harden gone. Nick Nurse's new offensive system is getting the best out of his team, with Tyrese Maxey looking like a future All-NBA talent. Morris has been on contending teams before and understands how to impact games as both a starter and role player. He can fill voids on a nightly basis.

Now 34, Morris is on the back nine of his career. As such, he wants to be part of a team's rotation. He will likely get that chance with the Sixers, albeit in a minimized role, for now at least.

Refusing to berate his old team is smart. It would do nothing but tarnish his reputation and value around the league. Instead, Morris is focused on representing his hometown team. If that leads to a championship, then great. If not, at least he got to be around friends and family while doing a job he loves.
