Mac McClung drawing eyes, and ticket sales for 76ers' G-League affiliate

Only days removed from his unfathomable slam dunk contest win over NBA All-Star Weekend, basketball fans are flocking to Wilmington, Delaware, to get a glimpse of rising phenom Mac McClung.

This week, McClung returned to the Philadelphia 76ers G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, who say their ticket demand has increased significantly.

Per Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the Blue Coats sold five times more than their average in tickets ahead of Wednesday night's contest against the Motor City Cruise at the Chase Fieldhouse.

A virtual unknown a week ago, McClung catapulted to superstardom after a performance in the dunk contest that some say saved the NBA's annual event.

Coming out of nowhere, McClung posted perfect scores in three out of his four dunk attempts, becoming the first G-Leaguer to compete in and win the dunk contest.

While the 24-year-old's exploits in dunking are well known now, the ever-humble McClung revealed that his teammates in Delaware had a lot of input into what millions of people saw last Saturday night.

"They helped me with a lot of dunks," McClung told NBC 10 in Philadelphia's Tim Furlong. "I was running all the dunks by them to see what they thought, so it was definitely a group effort."

After all the accolades and exposure, McClung is focused on doing what he can to help the Blue Coats, even if the NBA is within his grasp.

"We're on a mission. We want to win this thing. I'm super excited about that," McClung said.

It's no surprise basketball fans want a first-hand look at the slam dunk champion, especially in an intimate G-League venue.

Though if you're going to grab a seat to the Blue Coats' next game, you better hurry. Only a few tickets remain for Friday night's game against the Cruise.
