Los Angeles Lakers: Carmelo Anthony Drops ‘Crazy’ Reaction To LeBron James’ 40,000-Point Milestone
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James just hit the 40,000-point mark . And for Carmelo Anthony, that achievement deserves a lot more recognition.

After all, for Anthony, it’s unlikely we’ll see anyone pass that milestone ever again.

LeBron James’ 40K Milestone Draws Carmelo Anthony Reaction

James achieved the incredible feat during their recent showdown against the Denver Nuggets, becoming the first player to ever reach 40,000 points. He is already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and it’s now harder for anyone to catch up to him as he continues to add to his tally.

Anthony himself admitted that it’s “crazy” to see someone achieve such mark, highlighting that it’s on a whole another level compared to setting the new scoring record.

With that being said, the former NBA All-Star and one-time scoring leader expressed his hope that fans and haters alike won’t take it for granted. While James has his more than fair share of detractors, Melo emphasized that what James just did and continues to do might never be seen again in the league.

“First of all 40K is crazy. That is crazy. We will never see that. No one is touching that 40K. [Passing] Kareem was crazy, but 40,000 is different. So I hope people are not overlooking it…I think we should really cherish these moments. We are so quick to move on to the next topic and the next headline. But. we gotta cherish these moments,” Anthony said on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, as presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment Original.

Sure enough, Anthony has a great point. One can be a fan of LeBron or be a hater, but at the end of the day, what he has accomplished cannot be understated.

James’ longevity is unmatched, and it will be really hard for anyone to replicate that dominance for that long.

LeBron James’ Incredible Feat

As Carmelo Anthony said, it’s truly hard to see anyone joining LeBron James in the 40,000-point club.

To put it into perspective, Laker Film Room podcast host Darius Soriano recently highlighted what a player needs to do to reach the mark. For one, a player would need to average at least 24.4 points per game to do so, via Sports Illustrated.

Sounds easy, right? Well, not if you add the fact that a player must play for the whole 82 games in a season and stay dominant for 20 years in order to even breach the mark.

James is definitely getting less credit considering how amazing what he has just done. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles Lakers star, the NBA world has been so spoiled by his greatness that what he’s doing looks easy.
