Lakers reportedly in three-team trade talks in bid to land Tobias Harris, Furkan Korkmaz

The Lakers are trying to land two veterans without giving up first-round picks.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have not gotten star Kyrie Irving, but there is still a possibility that the team will make a win-now move ahead of the trade deadline. They have two veteran superstars on their roster in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and they have the opportunity to improve the roster around them.

A recent report from Doc Louallen revealed that the Lakers, Sixers, and Pistons are currently in three-team trade talks that would send Tobias Harris and Furkan Korkmaz to their roster. Louallen also noted that the Lakers don't want to trade their first-round picks in this deal.

The Lakers, Sixers, and Pistons are in trade talks.

Pistons receive: Russell Westbrook, picks

Lakers receive: Tobias Harris, Furkan Korkmaz

Sixers receive: Nerlens Noel, Marvin Bagley, Bojan Bogdanović.

LA does not want to trade their 1st round picks.

Adding two key 3PT shooters could prove to be a blessing for the Los Angeles Lakers, as they would improve their roster considerably on both ends of the floor with this deal. Tobias Harris could be a decent tertiary scoring option behing LeBron James and Anthony Davis in particular, and is currently averaging 16.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting 38.1% from 3PT range. It remains to be seen if the deal ends up going through, and we'll see what happens in the future.

The Los Angeles Lakers Still Believe They Can Make The Team Better Before Trade Deadline

Even though the team was unable to acquire Kyrie Irving, the Los Angeles Lakers still beleive they can make upgrades ahead of the trade deadline. The fact that they are still in trade talks for veterans show that they have not given up on making a trade.

Despite missing out on Kyrie Irving, Lakers still optimistic they can upgrade roster before trade deadline. The three challenges. Is another star available? The Lakers don’t have many assets. Despite willing to trade picks or young players, they haven’t been willing to do both

Obviously, it is unclear if the Los Angeles Lakers will end up getting any of the veterans they want. They would quite likely have to give up some of their draft capital to do so, something that they have had a reluctance to do thus far. They were willing to give up one draft pick for a player like Kyrie Irving, but clearly that wasn't enough.

We will see what ends up happening in the future. There is no shortage of solid players that are available in trade talks right now, and perhaps we'll see the Lakers get some of them ahead of the deadline.
