UPDATE: ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the contract buyout is now agreed on.

Via Wojnarowski: "ESPN Sources: Veteran center Daniel Theis has agreed on a contract buyout with the Indiana Pacers and now plans to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers assuming he clears waivers. Clippers recently lost backup C Mason Plumlee to a sprained MCL for several weeks."

Daniel Theis is in his seventh season in the NBA but has only appeared one game so far this year with the Indiana Pacers

In that game, the 31-year-old played eight minutes and had two points.

On Wednesday afternoon, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Theis and the Pacers are on the verge of a contract buyout.

Via Charania:  "Daniel Theis and the Indiana Pacers are in serious talks on a contract buyout, which would clear the way for the veteran big man to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers pending a physical exam, sources tell  @TheAthletic @Stadium. Clippers frontcourt depth could be arriving soon."

Theis has also played for the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls.

His career averages are 7.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 54.2% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point range in 314 regular season games.

As for the Pacers, they are 7-4 in their first 11 games, which has them tied for the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

After missing the NBA playoffs for three straight seasons, there is a good chance they will be able to return to the postseason in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are 3-7 in their first ten games and in the middle of a six-game losing streak.

Recently, Mason Plumlee went down with an  injury, so Theis could be an excellent replacement as a center off the bench.
