Heat Re-Sign Kevin Love to Two-Year Contract

The Heat have reached agreement with power forward Kevin Love on a two-year contract, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. The second year of the deal will consist of a player option.

Love, 34, signed with the Heat in late February after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Cavaliers. He was a member of the Cavs teams that reached the Finals every year from 2014-18 (and won the title in 2016), then made the Finals again in his return to the playoffs with the Heat.

Miami was big on Love’s veteran leadership and seamless fit as it became just the second No. 8 seed to play for a championship. He became a favorite of teammates along the way.

In 21 games with the Heat, Love averaged 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds, then started 18 of 20 games in the playoffs, shooting 38 percent on 3-pointers and continuing his longtime trend of taking charges defensively.

Miami also added guard/forward Josh Richardson in free agency. (Tracker)
