Hawks Officially Promote Kyle Korver to Assistant GM
Armond Feffer-USA TODAY Sports

The Hawks have officially promoted former NBA sharpshooter Kyle Korver to assistant general manager, the team announced in a press release.

Korver has actually been in the front office and working with players at practice — presumably on shooting — since the offseason. This just now makes his position official.

“Kyle has helped me make a few adjustments in my shot,” forward Jalen Johnson said back in September “You know, having him around has helped a lot. He’s been helping a lot of these guys, giving them pointers and things they can work on, so it’s good.”

Late last week, The Athletic’s Sam Amick first reported that Korver was in line for an official front office role.

This is just part of a front-office shakeup for the Hawks, who recently moved Travis Schlenk to an advisory role and promoted Landry Fields to GM.

Korver, 41, played in the NBA from 2003-20, averaging 9.7 points and shooting 43 percent for his career. He made the All-Star team in 2014-15 as a member of the Hawks, and spent five seasons as a player with the franchise overall.
