Grizzlies suspend Ja Morant after latest social media video

The Memphis Grizzlies announced on Sunday morning that they have suspended Ja Morant indefinitely from all team activities following his latest troubling Instagram video.

Morant was seen in the passenger seat of a friends car appearing to brandish a gun for a brief moment.

The Grizzlies issued a very brief three sentence statement on Sunday morning announcing the suspension.

It is yet another off-court incident for Morant in what has been an extremely concerning year. He was already suspended by the Grizzlies and the NBA for a previous Instagram video that showed him holding a gun following a road loss to the Denver Nuggets in early March.

He apologized for that incident and said he was going to take some time away from basketball to better learn how to deal with stress.

It has apparently not yet taken hold.

The previous incident in Denver cost him a spot on the All-NBA team, which in turn cost him $39M in salary.

This one might cost him even more, because at some point the Grizzlies and the NBA are going to get tired of this.

When he is on the floor Morant is one of the best players in basketball and one of its most electrifying stars. But these incidents are becoming a concerning and unnecessary distraction that is taking away from him, the team and the league.

The Grizzlies had the second best record in the Western Conference at 51-31, but were swiftly eliminated in the playoffs by the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
