Golden State Warriors Will Reportedly Work Out NBA Champion
USA TODAY Sports

Dion Waiters was initially the fourth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Syracuse, and most recently played in the league during the 2020 season.

Last month, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report reported that Waiters was attempting to make an NBA comeback.

On Tuesday evening, Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported that Waiters would be one of six players that will work out for the Golden State Warriors over the next few weeks.

Via Charania : "The Warriors are holding free-agent workouts with veterans Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Harry Giles and Trey Burke at facility over next two weeks, sources tell me and  @anthonyVslater. GS has multiple round of workouts to identify signings."

Waiters was a solid shooting guard over his eight seasons in the league.

The 31-year-old has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers

His career averages are 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 41.2% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range in 419 regular season games (he has also appeared in 23 NBA playoff games).

During his most recent season, Waiters played in seven regular season games and five NBA playoffs games for the Lakers, who won the 2020 NBA Championship over the Heat.

As for the Warriors, they are coming off a year where they were the sixth seed in the Western Conference and lost to the Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
