Gilbert Arenas Reveals That The Worst He Ever Got Dunked On Was By Jason Terry
Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

Gilbert Arenas talks about the time when he accidentally helped Jason Terry dunk on him.

Gilbert Arenas was one of the best guards in the NBA for a couple of years in the mid-2000s, as he seemingly came out of nowhere to terrorize opposing backcourts. A second-round pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, Arenas won Most Improved Player in 2003, and by the 2004-05 season, he was an All-Star.

For 3 seasons in a row, he ranked in the top 10 in the league for points per game, with the highlight being the 2005-06 campaign where he averaged an impressive 29.3 points per game. He followed that up with another terrific campaign where he averaged 28.4 points per game to seemingly establish himself as one of the premier guards in the NBA for the years to come.

Unfortunately, however, towards the end of that 2006-07 season, he tore his MCL and was never quite the same again. That infamous firearms incident then followed in 2009, and by 2012, Arenas was out of the league. It was a stunning rise and an equally stunning collapse which serves as a reminder of just how quickly things can go wrong in someone's career. Arenas now has his own podcast where he makes statements like Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn't understand basketball, which unsurprisingly made a lot of headlines for all the wrong reasons. Not all of what Arenas says on there is as ridiculous as that, however, and he recently had Orlando Magic youngster R. J. Hampton on as a guest.

With Hampton being a ferocious dunker, the discussion was about who he would want to dunk on the most, with the youngster mentioning LeBron James and Rudy Gobert. Arenas mentioned that he preferred dunking on guards and also spoke about the worst dunk he ever received.

(starts at 1:20 mark):

"The worst dunk that I received was from Jason Terry... and I helped him. It was the dumbest. He drove the lane, you know how like you go like this and you try to push the arm up? It is one of those and I push his arm up and actually help him and boom. And-one. I'm like, 'Wait, that's not a real dunk.' I was trying to like swipe up and just swiped him up and he yammed me."

Terry seems to have gotten Arenas good there, thanks to the added boost he accidentally got from him. Terry was involved in another monster dunk, but unfortunately, he was on the receiving end when LeBron James famously threw it down on him, and he stated previously that kids at grocery stores still ask him about it.

It would be interesting to see some footage of that dunk by Terry on Arenas, but there doesn't seem to be any footage available of it online. If you do end up finding it somewhere, please send it across to office@fadeawayworld.net!
