Giannis Antetokounmpo showed Bucks management recruitment texts from rival stars?

Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks was highly uncertain up until this week.

The two-time MVP closed the door on signing with another franchise when he agreed to a five-year, $228 million supermax deal with the Bucks on Tuesday.

Up until that point, though, he was one of the most sought-after players in the league. Some players even tried to recruit him over the offseason. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Kevin Arnovitz, Antetokounmpo showed Bucks management recruitment text messages he was receiving from various star players around the NBA before he signed a new deal.

That likely pushed management to put their best offer forward, which included the guarantee that the team would build around him in order to reach the NBA Finals.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst did just that this offseason, acquiring Jrue Holiday and D.J. Augustin. If the Bucks are in a position to go deep in the playoffs, Horst could eventually make more moves before the trade deadline in order to improve the team further.

Even though he's committed to the Bucks, Antetokounmpo leaving Milwaukee still isn't off the table. If the franchise can't deliver an NBA title, the superstar could set his sights on a contender when his deal expires after the 2025-26 season.

Antetokounmpo, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game last season while shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from deep. He's expected to get better during the 2020-21 campaign.
