Former NBA 2nd Overall Pick Is Still A Free Agent

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was last with an NBA team (New York Knicks) during the 2020-21 season, but was waived before appeared in a game.   

The former Kentucky star was once a top prospect, and was the second pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.    

His last appearance came during the 2019-20 season when he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks (and Hornets).    

That season, Kidd-Gilchrist averaged 2.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest in 25 games (he also appeared in six NBA playoff games). 

At just 29-years-old, he remains a free agent, available to sign with any team in the league. 

Kidd-Gilchrist came into the NBA at 19, so he has extensive experience playing in 446 regular season games with career averages of 8.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 47.4% from the field and 27.2% from the three-point range. 

He has also played in ten NBA playoff games with averages of 4.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.
