Jimmer Fredette dropped 70 points in a game this week with the Shanghai Sharks of the China Basketball Association. Incredibly, it’s not the first time the former BYU star and first-round NBA Draft pick has hit the 70-point plateau with the team.
The 70-point outburst unsurprisingly was a season-high performance for Fredette. It unfortunately came in a 136-129 overtime loss to the Sichuan Blue Whales. That said, Fredette’s play was nothing short of phenomenal, as his stat line shared by ESPN’s “SportsCenter” more than substantiates.

Unreal stat line. pic.twitter.com/iSdAa4WrG0
Fredette shot 50% from the field (18-for-36) and on three-pointers (11-for-22) while also going a perfect 23-for-23 from the free-throw line.
As noted, Fredette has hit the 70-point plateau more than once in the CBA, as this week’s scoring outburst was the third time in his two stints with the Sharks where he hit that mark.

Fredette’s NBA career spanned eight seasons after the Milwaukee Bucks selected him with the No. 10 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft following being named the Naismith National Player of the Year in his final season at BYU. He last played in the NBA during the 2018-19 season.
The 31-year-old is without question making the most out of his second chance at a professional basketball career overseas. In 32 games with the Sharks this season, Fredette is averaging 26.3 points shooting 45% from the field and 38% from three-point range.
