Drake Shows Love To Raptors Head Coach Darko Rajakovic: 'Toronto Has A Real One'
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

Drake recently showed admiration for Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic following a heated postgame rant directed at NBA officials. Rajakovic's impassioned response came after a heartbreaking 132-131 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, marked by a significant free-throw disparity.

"Toronto has a real one as their coach. This guy is a guyzer."

Drake took to Instagram to share Rajakovic's fiery comments, posting a video clip. The term "guyzer" is defined as a select group of friends one trusts and appreciates, suggesting Drake's endorsement of Rajaković's authenticity and passion.

Expressing his discontent, Rajakovic criticized the officiating, emphasizing the 36 free-throw attempts by the Lakers compared to the Raptors' 13. The disparity was even more glaring in the fourth quarter, where the Lakers received 23 free throws, raising questions about the fairness of the game

The Raptors coach's critique extended to questioning whether his team should have participated in the game if the outcome was predetermined in favor of the Lakers. Despite the potential consequences of fines or sanctions, Rajakovic stood firm in his belief that the officiating was unfair, expressing frustration at the lack of free-throw opportunities for his team.

Drake's support for Rajakovic reflects the solidarity between the Raptors' global ambassador and the head coach, acknowledging Rajakovic as a genuine and trustworthy figure. The incident adds an intriguing chapter to the Raptors' season, showcasing the emotional investment and passion of both the coach and the team ambassador in their pursuit of fairness and success on the court.

LeBron James Has Casual Response To The Lakers 36 Free Throw Attempts

LeBron James, following the Los Angeles Lakers' controversial 132-131 victory over the Toronto Raptors, addressed the significant free throw discrepancy between the two teams in the fourth quarter. The Lakers attempted a staggering 23 free throws in the final quarter, while the Raptors only had two attempts.

"I felt like they fouled and we didn't."

The Lakers finished the game with 36 free throw attempts compared to the Raptors' 13. Despite eight intentional fouls from the Raptors contributing to the Lakers' free throw count, the limited opportunities for Toronto, especially in the fourth quarter, raised eyebrows. The Raptors, with a 70-50 advantage in points in the paint, expected more opportunities at the free-throw line.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic expressed his frustration with the officiating in a post-game tirade. He questioned the disparity in free throw attempts, particularly for Scottie Barnes, who only had two in the game despite aggressive attacks on the basket. Rajakovic went as far as suggesting that if the game was predetermined for the Lakers to win, his team should have been informed not to show up.

While LeBron kept his comments concise, Rajakovic's outburst may lead to a substantial fine. The loss dropped the Raptors to a 15-22 record for the season, adding to their frustrations in a challenging campaign.

The Lakers, known for their advantageous free throw differentials, continue to be a team that draws fouls effectively. The 2023-24 season maintains this trend, with the Lakers attempting an average of 24.3 free throws per game, ranking eighth in the NBA.
