Clippers Reveal Reason For Unexpected Lineup Change
USA TODAY Sports

The LA Clippers furiously rallied a 20-point comeback against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night but made a sudden lineup change in the midst of the process.

During the second half against the Houston Rockets, the LA Clippers started Mason Plumlee in place of Ivica Zubac and didn't play Zubac for the rest of the game. As the game progressed, many Clippers fans wondered why the decision was made. LA ultimately won the game with Plumlee putting up 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. After the game, however, Clippers head coach Ty Lue revealed why Zubac was pulled.

“I just didn’t think Zu was all the way there," Lue said. "I know he had some headaches before the game and talking to him when he first came out, he said he couldn’t breathe early on… We didn’t want to risk that. He said he wasn’t feeling well... As a staff, we just thought it was best that we didn’t chance it."

Ivica Zubac had 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks on 1/4 shooting prior to getting pulled after the first half. Many fans suspected he may have been getting benched due to conditioning or his play, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Hopefully, whatever is ailing him will be alleviated by the time the Clippers face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
