Clippers Address Concerns Over Josh Primo Signing

The LA Clippers announced on Friday evening that the team had signed 2021 lottery pick Josh Primo to a two-way contract. It was announced by the NBA on Friday morning that Primo had been suspended four games for conduct detrimental to the league, which included what the NBA called "inappropriate and offensive behavior by exposing himself to women."

While Primo maintains the exposure was accidental, the league felt his actions warranted discipline, and handed out the suspension. With this being the situation, the Clippers were met with concerns from their fanbase and fans around the league for signing Primo despite the league's determination that his behavior was inappropriate. 

Speaking with Andrew Greif of the LA Times, Clippers president Lawrence Frank addressed these concerns, laying out the steps the team took before deciding to sign Primo.

"We took many steps to make sure that we could feel very confident that we will be able to create a safe and comfortable workplace," Frank told Greif.

Frank added, "We’ve spent a great deal of time for the last several months with Josh. We’ve had specialists who we consult with who’ve evaluated Josh, and the reason why we’re moving forward is, based on their confidence level after the evaluations and what he’s doing currently, they feel he can be a positive contributor to the organization moving forward."

In addition to the specialists the Clippers consulted, Frank told Greif the team also consulted female employees who most frequently interact with players. After going through this process, the Clippers decided to sign Primo.
