Charles Barkley Throws Shade At Warriors’ Klay Thompson
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Charles Barkley enjoys teasing Golden State Warriors’ longtime star Klay Thompson, but always with a good-natured vibe.

About a year ago, Barkley playfully suggested that the aging Thompson might soon be delivering for DoorDash.

Recently, after Thompson struggled with a 0-for-10 shooting performance in what could potentially be his final game as a Warrior, Barkley couldn’t resist another jab at the Golden State star.

Barkley humorously remarked that even if the Warriors decide to move the 34-year-old Thompson to a bench role, he might not have the same impact he did during his prime years. He even hinted that the Warriors could face challenges ahead and might have to let Thompson go as a free agent.

“Klay’s not going to get younger. He’s not gonna get better. He’s gonna make less money but he ain’t gonna get no better. Older people don’t get — sports ain’t for old people. They’re for young people.”

On the other hand, Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr remains optimistic about Thompson’s future with the team. Despite their recent loss to Sacramento in the play-in game, Kerr believes Thompson still has plenty to offer and shouldn’t be counted out just yet.

If indeed Tuesday’s game marked the end of Thompson’s tenure with the Warriors, he would leave behind an impressive legacy. Having played 793 regular-season games and 158 playoff games for the Bay Area team over 13 seasons (including two redshirt years), Thompson has averaged an impressive 19.6 points while shooting 41.3 percent from beyond the arc.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Golden State Warriors end up doing with Klay Thompson this offseason. Will he be back in town for another year or will they move on? Only time will tell.
