Celtics assign Jordan Walsh to Maine
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

When the Celtics drafted Jordan Walsh #38 in this year's draft the standard overhypers claimed Boston picked the steal of the draft. After a strong performance in one of his summer league games, the hype train took off even further. The thought was that Walsh could adequately replace the loss of Grant Williams from the jump.

Through the first three regular season games thirteen Celtics have gotten minutes, but Walsh has yet to make his NBA debut. He will now hopefully get a chance to work on his game up in Maine, as the Celtics assigned him to their G-League affiliate on Tuesday.

It's important to remember that Walsh is only 19. Expecting one of the younger players in the NBA draft that lasted until the 2nd round to have an immediate impact was foolish. He did show enough skills in college and briefly in summer league to potentially help the Celtics at some point. He will need to make quite the leap for that to come this season though.
