The Chicago Bulls have had quite a ride this season. From the season-ending injuries of both Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams, constant changes in their starting five, and the uncertainty of their future in the wake of another inferior campaign.

This progress that they are in got the fitting grade from The Ringer.

Nets obtain a "D" grade from The Ringer

In grading for every NBA team's 2023-24 season thus far, NBA writer Seerat Sohi of The Ringer stamped a “D” grade in the Bulls’ report card.

Sohi expressed concerns with how the Bulls have maintained their core despite Coby White's breakout season and well-deserved potential transition as the team's newest torchbearer. For that, she pointed out the troubling position of the ball club now in managing the upcoming free agency DeMar DeRozan.

“The emergence of Coby White in Zach LaVine’s absence was all the evidence this team needed that relinquishing the old can have exciting, future-affirming benefits. Even ownership was on board with a rebuild. And yet … the Bulls stood pat at the deadline. They’re now in position to either let DeMar DeRozan walk in free agency or overpay him like they did with Nikola Vucevic last summer.”

Deebo deserves better?

Deebo has an expiring contract, and it is yet to be seen if there will be any significant growth in a potential extended partnership between him and the franchise.

But for Sohi, it's time for the 34-year-old star to part ways and seek better opportunities with other teams and maybe get a ring.

“If I were DeMar, I would walk, by the way. Just look at Lauri Markkanen and Jimmy Butler. Everyone’s happier once they leave Chicago. Bulls fans deserve better. Dalen Terry and Terry Taylor deserve better. Alex Caruso deserves better.”
