Bradley Beal leaning toward re-signing with Wizards?

The 10-year anniversary of Bradley Beal being selected third overall by the Washington Wizards during the 2012 NBA Draft is just under four months away. Across the past decade, Beal has racked up three All-Star nods, four Player of the Week honors, was named to an All-NBA squad for the first time a year ago (third team) and has helped lead the Wizards to the postseason five times.

In recent months though, the 28-year-old has found himself at the head of constant trade and free agency rumors. Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Beal has a player option for next season on his current contract, and if he declines it, he will be eligible to sign a five-year, $246 million contract with the club.

The guard is out for the rest of this campaign due to left wrist injury, but he was asked about his contract status on Thursday.

Beal has been mostly durable since joining Washington, as this will be the first season of his career he doesn't play in at least 55 games. The 2020-2021 campaign was arguably his best from an offensive standpoint since becoming an NBA player. He set career-highs in points (31.3), field goal percentage (48.5%) and free throw percentage (88.9%.)

The former Florida Gator has posted career averages of 22.1 points, 4.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 34.8 minutes per game across 645 regular-season contests.
