Bol Bol reportedly headed to Celtics as part of three-team trade

A trade that would have sent Bol Bol to Detroit was nixed last week due to issues with his physical. Now, Bol is being rerouted again, this time further east.

Bol is part of a three-team deal between the Celtics, Nuggets and Spurs that will send him to Boston along with P.J. Dozier, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Juancho Hernangomez will head to San Antonio and Bryn Forbes will end up in Denver. San Antonio will also acquire Denver's 2028 second-round pick in the deal.

Over three seasons with the Nuggets, Bol has played in just 53 total games as he's battled injuries and struggled for playing time when healthy. He holds career averages of 2.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

The Celtics likely are intrigued by the 7'2" Bol's potential, but the trade also will nearly get them out of the luxury tax, per ESPN's Tim Bontemps. He also notes Boston has an empty roster spot, which could be used for further trades before the deadline or during contract buyout season.

Dozier tore his ACL in November and is likely out for the remainder of the season. 

Hernangomez is in his sixth season in the league and his first in Boston, but has seen a sharp decline in playing time from previous seasons. He's averaging 5.3 minutes per game -- the first time that figure has been in single digits during his career -- and just 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest.

Forbes has been the most productive player involved in the trade, as he's proven to be a solid backcourt option over his six-year career. He is averaging 9.1 points per game this season, and at 41.7 percent from 3-point range, figures to contribute as a shooter off the bench for Denver.
