Atlanta Hawks hire former player Kyle Korver for front office job

The Atlanta Hawks are bringing a familiar face back to the organization. According to reports on Tuesday night, the organization is in the process of finalizing a deal that will make former player Kyle Korver part of its front office.

The team made the deal official on Wednesday, saying in a statement that Korver will serve as director of player affairs and development.

"We are excited to bring Kyle back to the Hawks," general manager Landry Fields said, adding that Korver is an individual "whose presence will benefit our players, on and off the court."

Korver played for the Hawks from 2012-2017 and earned his lone All-Star nod while with the team. He retired in 2021 following a one-season stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, while also playing for the 76ers, Jazz, Bulls, and Cavaliers during his career. He did not completely leave the game, though, recently serving as a player development coach for the Brooklyn Nets.

The 17-year veteran shot 42.9 percent from 3-point range during his career, good for 10th best in NBA history.
