Arizona's Bennedict Mathurin declares for 2022 NBA Draft

According to ESPN's Jonathan Givony , Arizona standout Bennedict Mathurin has declared for the upcoming NBA Draft. 

The 6-foot-7 guard heads to the pros, forgoing his final two years at Arizona. With the Wildcats, Mathurin played in 63 games, averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists. 

In 2020-21, his freshman season at Arizona, Mathurin played in 26 games, starting 12 of them. He averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists playing 25 minutes per game. Mathurin was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team at the end of the season. 

Mathurin's game took off in his sophomore season, when he played 32.5 minutes per game, averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists. 

His accolades from this past season include First-Team All-Pac 12, consensus Second-Team All-American, Pac-12 Tournament MVP, Wooden Award and Pac-12 Player of the Year. 

Mathurin is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. 

During the NCAA Tournament, the 19-year-old received criticism after he appeared to make inappropriate contact with a TCU dance team member after Arizona's 85-80 victory in the second round.
