1990s rock band predicted Jordan Poole trade

Smash Mouth is best known for their hit song "All Star." Perhaps that's why they were right on the money about a Warriors star getting traded.

Way back on May 10, the Twitter account for Smash Mouth responded to a report by Kerith Burke about the Warriors' "tension-filled locker room." Jordan Poole was scoreless in 10 minutes in the Game 4 loss, where the Warriors blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Lakers. Smash Mouth saw the writing on the wall.

Later that morning, Smash Mouth dismissed the idea of trading Andrew Wiggins and Poole to get the Celtics' Jaylen Brown but reiterated that Poole had to go.

Six weeks later, Poole was gone, traded to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul, a 12-time … All-Star.

Perhaps Smash Mouth realized that Poole's strong 2021-22 season was a one-hit wonder. From their appearance on the "Shrek" soundtrack, the band may have concluded that, while Draymond Green seemed like an ogre when he punched Poole in practice, the diminutive Poole was actually a negative, Lord Farquaad type.

After watching former lead singer Steve Harwell freak out when fans threw food at a Fort Collins festival, they could relate to the tension in the Warriors locker room after Poole's lucrative contract extension. Things get crazy when someone gets a lot of bread.

Smash Mouth has also done baseball predictions, and so far they've been spot on.

Bailey remains on the San Francisco Giants and hit an RBI double Wednesday night. Before the season, they called the Giants' signing of Gary Sanchez and the promotion of Blake Sabol to the big leagues.

Joey Bart still hasn't played first base or appeared at DH this year, but he's also been derailed by injuries.

While the band is headed to Pierogi Fest in Whiting, Ind., we hope the members have time to break more news before the baseball trade deadline. No rock band has made the pivot from state fair headlining act to sports news breaker, but after all, only shooting stars break the mold.
