Watch: Justin Allgaier wrecks hard at Talladega after contact with Riley Herbst
Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season so far has been a mixed bag of emotions for Junior Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier . The No:7 Chevy driver was slowly getting back to top form, after missing out on front raw finishes, with back-to-back top-5s in the ovals. But the momentum was killed of by a stage one crash on Saturday at Talladega.

Justin Allgaier was the first victim of Dega Xfinity race, as he crashed out on the last lap of stage one, bringing out the caution. This resulted in him finishing dead last (P38) in the race. With 100 laps left in the race, coming to turn 2, Allgaier’s Chevy made contact with the No:98 Ford of Riley Herbst and he spun out.

His spun onto the asphalt on the inside and crashed hard onto the corner wall. The front of his car was severely damaged and his team wasn’t able to repair it on time to get him back on the track. The NASCAR safety crew immediately came to the scene to access the situation and he was safely moved out of the car. He moved to the infield care centre and was later released.

Justin Allgaier refuses to blame Riley Herbst for the incident

It was the worst finish of the season for the Chevy driver. But despite the disappointment he was rational about what went down leading to the incident and didn’t blame the Ford driver for causing the incident and DNF. He revealed that he already lost control of the car before making contact with Herbst.

I started to come around before there was ever a contact… I don't feel like there was anything he did wrong today. It’s just the nature of the car and where we are at… Justin Allgaier said.

The JRM driver was very critical about the package doesn’t suiting the drivers at Degas before giving the verdict on the crash. He seems to believes the incident has more to do with the issues the current Xfinity cars have over the mistakes from the racers.
