Matt Kenseth to join Legacy Motor Club as mentor for Erik Jones, John Hunter Nemechek
? John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Legacy Motor Club is adding a former NASCAR Cup Series champion to their team, as they continue to make shrewd moves for 2024.

Matt Kenseth is joining the team as a competition advisor, according to Kelly Crandall of RACER. He’ll also be mentoring Legacy’s young drivers, Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek, as the team moves to Toyota next season.

“Matt Kenseth has joined Legacy Motor Club as a competition advisor,” tweeted Crandall.
“Among his responsibilities will be mentoring Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek and help the company through its transition to Toyota for 2024.”

That’s a huge addition for Legacy. While they already have arguably the greatest to ever get behind the wheel in Jimmie Johnson as their team owner, along with Richard Petty as part of their squad, the addition of Kenseth certainly won’t hurt.

Moreover, Legacy took to Twitter to announce to news as well, providing a graphic featuring Kenseth and Johnson together.

Over the course of his NASCAR Cup Series career, Kenseth amassed 39 wins, 331 top ten finishes and of course, the 2003 Winston Cup Series Championship. He’s always been regarded as one of the smartest drivers in the field, and the ability to pick his brain will be invaluable for Legacy Motor Club moving forward.
