While there will be a few people who miss seeing dirt on the track at Bristol, Chris Buescher is not among them and it has nothing to do with dirt. Buescher is such a big fan of the concrete at Bristol, that he named it his favorite NASCAR race.

Of course, Chris Buescher has a Bristol sword in his trophy case. The RFK Racing driver picked up the win in 2022 after just missing out on the playoffs. However, it meant a lot more than most any win could mean for him.

Buescher’s favorite race and track is the concrete at Bristol. Now he has a chance to get back to the concrete not just once, but twice in a season, that’s a big deal for him. He knows this gives him an opportunity to win.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in the garage area happier than I am. I was ecstatic hearing that news. And it’s not that I dislike dirt racing,” Buescher said to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I’ve had a ball in dirt cars at real dirt tracks in the maybe dozen times I’ve done it through the years. I’ve absolutely loved it.

“So it’s not that at all. It’s the fact that Bristol concrete is my favorite race. We are always very fast there, and we’ve been able to get one win there and had a really solid run there last time. So for me, it’s just more opportunities for our team and I love that. Nothing against dirt in general. It’s the fact that, man, I’m ready for Bristol concrete.”

Chris Buescher has three top-5 finishes, including his 2022 win, at Bristol. His finishes in the last two concrete races at Bristol have been P1 and P4. Now he has a chance to earn another strong finish.

Chris Buescher undervalued at Bristol?

Looking at the favorites for the Food City 500, Las Vegas might have to recheck their calculations. Kyle Larson is the favorite, and perhaps he should be. However, there are a few other drivers that have fallen down the odds list.

Among those drivers is Chris Buescher. Given his recent success at the track, it is shocking that Buescher finds himself outside of the top-10 favorites for the race. Being overlooked isn’t always a bad thing, though.

Buescher is tied with his RFK teammate Brad Keselowski and with Trackhouse’s Ross Chastain at +1400 odds. They are tied for 11th on the list of favorites. Early in the season, we have seen the Toyotas rise. Chevy won three of the first four Cup Series races. So, is it time for Ford to step up?

Bristol Motor Speedway, The Last Great Colosseum. Chris Buescher hopes to once again raise a sword above his head in Victory Lane. While a lot of folks might be underrating him going into Sunday, he has wide eyes and high hopes returning to the half-mile of concrete.
