However, the high-powered Philly offense took advantage of a rocky showing from Nick Nastrini. The Sox rookie hurler lacked the command he displayed in his debut start and allowed three first-inning runs, one of which was unearned due to Lenyn Sosa's throwing error.

Hung Out to Dry

Nastrini continued to struggle through the start but managed to keep the Phillies off the board until the fourth. After 74 pitches and an apparent lack of control, Nastrini was pulled by White Sox manager Pedro Grifol in the fourth after facing the Phillies' top of the order for a third time.

He failed to record an out and allowed a run in the frame while leaving two runners on base for Tanner Banks. A sacrifice fly by Bryce Harper and a two-out double by Alec Bohm plated two more runs to make it a 6-2 game.

Kyle Schwarber belted a leadoff solo homer in the sixth and drove in Philadephia's eighth run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Fizzled Out

Nola cruised through eight innings, allowing only two hits and a walk after the first. Kevin Pillar walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error but was left stranded in the second inning. In the fourth, Gavin Sheets led off with a double and was the White Sox' only other scoring threat. Nola needed just 60 pitches from the third through eighth innings.

News and Notes

The White Sox are calling up infielder Danny Mendick from Triple-A Charlotte. Lenyn Sosa will return to Charlotte, and Chicago will need to make a corresponding move to make room for Mendick on the 40-man roster.

Paul DeJong sat out the game with a bruised left elbow after getting hit by a pitch in Saturday's contest.
