White Sox Rookie Oscar Colas Hits First MLB Home Run
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Colas squared up a slider in the ninth inning of Friday's game to leave the yard for the first time in the show.

Save that baseball! Chicago White Sox rookie outfielder Oscar Colas achieved a career milestone Friday when he hit his first MLB home run. The left-hander's inaugural blast came in the ninth inning against Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Wil Crowe.

The solo shot was the 24-year-old's only hit of the game, which saw the White Sox fall 13-9 to the Pirates.

So far this young season, Colas is slashing .269/.296/.423 with the aforementioned home run, one double, two RBIs, and one stolen base. The Cuban outfielder has started six games but appeared in all eight White Sox contests to date.

Oscar Colas entered the 2023 season as the No. 82 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. If the White Sox hope to rebound from an abysmal 2022 season, they'll need Colas to contribute with his bat and glove on a consistent basis.
