His new child’s arrival worked out timing-wise for Kopech as he will not have to miss a turn in the White Sox rotation . Had he still been on the paternity list through the weekend, Johnny Cueto would have pitched Saturday against the Yankees. On the season, Michael Kopech owns an 0-1 record, 1.54 ERA, 0.943 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts across 35 innings.
As for Ryan Burr, recent struggles result in a demotion to the Triple-A club. Burr has a 6.00 ERA, 7.21 FIP, and 1.333 WHIP in nine innings across eight appearances so far this season. The right-hander began the year on the injured list (shoulder strain) before joining the Chicago White Sox roster on April 29.
