White Sox Place Billy Hamilton on IL, DFA Alex Colome Among 4 Roster Moves
Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox made a handful of roster moves prior to Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Among outfielders, Billy Hamilton heads to the injured list as Jake Marisnick gets the call from Triple-A Charlotte. The Sox also designated Alexander Colome for assignment and recalled Nicholas Padilla to fill the vacant spot in the bullpen.

Billy Hamilton is dealing with a left hamstring strain, which puts him on the injured list retroactive to May 7. Since joining the big-league club on May 2, the veteran speedster has appeared in just three games, primarily serving as a pinch-runner.

In Hamilton's place, the White Sox selected the contract of Jake Marisnick, who signed a minor-league deal with the organization in the offseason. The journeyman outfielder slashed .264/.407/.391 with six doubles, one home run, and nine RBIs in 30 games with Charlotte to begin the season.

On the pitching front, the Alexander Colome 2.0 experiment is over for the time being. His DFA comes after four rough appearances that resulted in a 6.00 ERA, 9.32 FIP, and 1.667 across three innings.

Nicholas Padilla will take Colome's place in a struggling White Sox bullpen. The 26-year-old is off to a decent start in the minors as he owns a 3.86 ERA and .180 BAA with 15 strikeouts to 11 walks across 14 innings for the Knights.

Following these moves, the White Sox will continue their series against the Royals with the third contest of a four-game set. First pitch of Wednesday's matchup is at 6:40 PM CT and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago.
