White Sox Injury Update: Billy Hamilton to Begin Rehab Assignment
Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Chicago White Sox outfielder Billy Hamilton has missed the last month of baseball with a hamstring strain. However, he appears to be on the road to recovery as the White Sox have assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte today in order to begin a rehab assignment

The struggling White Sox made 11 roster moves back on May 2nd. Hamilton who had spent April with the Charlotte Knights after failing to break camp with the team was one of them. The speedy veteran essentially replaced the roster spot of rookie Oscar Colas, who was sent down after a disappointing April campaign with the big league club.

The speedy outfielder landed on the IL on May 10th after appearing in only three games. Jake Marisnick took his place at the time, however, Marisnick has since been DFA'd and traded to the Detroit Tigers. Adam Haseley and Clint Frazier have both been in the fold at times, with Frazier seeing the most playing time recently as the White Sox fourth outfield option.

Hamilton should be back in Chicago after the conclusion of his rehab assignment. The South Siders could stick with Clint Frazier depending on his performance, however, his overall production has been below average thus far in his showing with the big league club.

Hamilton is known for his speed and base running ability. He can also play all three outfield positions well. The speedster also brings with him daily energy and joy to the field for a team that could use an injection of his spirit.
