After a busy MLB trade deadline that saw the Chicago White Sox complete six deals, the club filled a bullpen spot by recalling Jimmy Lambert from Triple-A Charlotte.
It's been a rough season for the 28-year-old following an exceptional 2022 campaign. Lambert returns to the Sox for the first time since July 6 mostly out of necessity after the team traded Keynan Middleton to the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Lambert has a 6.29 ERA at the big-league level this season, and he hasn't fared much better down on the farm. In 16.1 innings for the Knights, the righty posted an 8.27 ERA, 1.714 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts against 11 walks.
With the White Sox out of contention, perhaps Lambert can work out the kinks in a low-pressure environment over the final two months of the season.
