Watch: Giants reliever tosses glove in trash after implosion vs. Dodgers

San Francisco Giants reliever Taylor Rogers' glove found itself a new home on Wednesday night after the lefthander's sixth inning implosion on the mound against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rogers entered the home tilt at the beginning of the top of the sixth with the game tied at five. The southpaw walked pinch-hitter Trayce Thompson to open the frame, then walked Chris Taylor, walked Mookie Betts and walked Freddie Freeman to force in a run.

That was it for Rogers, after throwing 30 pitches (15 of them balls) and failing to record an out. Minutes later, after a Will Smith sacrifice fly and three-run home run from Giants killer Max Muncy, the book was officially closed on the 2021 Minnesota Twins All-Star.

Rogers' line was hideous, going 0 innings and allowing four runs (all earned) with four walks. Los Angeles won 10-5 and Rogers took the loss, with his ERA ballooning to 18.90.

It's probably a good idea for San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler to give the 32-year-old twin of fellow Giants reliever Tyler Rogers a few days off to recover from Wednesday's brutal appearance. When the former Twins closer next takes the mound for the team, we'll see if he indeed has a new glove on, and if it makes any kind of difference in throwing the ball over the plate.
