Top Prospect Needs Surgery, Will Be Ready for Spring Training

The Angels youth movement is upon us and one of the young pieces for the Halos is setting their eyes on 2024.

After being called up to the Majors, Kyren Paris played a handful of games before injuring his hand requiring a procedure to repair his torn ligament.

"Infielder Kyren Paris will need a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, Manager Phil Nevin said on Wednesday. Paris was hurt putting down a tag in Saturday’s game."

Paris struggled at the plate going 4-40 in 15 games with the team while only tallying one run batted in.

The young 21-year-old infielder did shine on the defensive end and on the base paths.

Paris will now go into recovery mode and set his eyes on spring training,

Nevin said Paris will be “good to go for spring training.”I felt like he was making good strides with his swing, the balls he was hitting,” Nevin said. “The ball was really coming off the bat well. I love what he does on defense, his energy.”

The Halos have made it evident that they are moving on to younger pieces for their future with the call up of Nolan Schanuel and Paris along with players like Zach Neto and Logan O'Hoppe assuming leadership roles as this band of youngsters looks to have a strong offseason and attack the 2024 season.

The Halos will have a busy season attempting to re-sign Shohei Ohtani and answering many trade calls for Mike Trout, but the wheel is now in the hands of the young bunch of players to finish the year strong.
