Three potential offseason targets for the Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles is in an envious position as they head into the postseason once again. The club boasts a pair of MVP candidates, one of the greatest left-handed starters in MLB history, and a supporting cast that continually rises to the occasion. This offseason they'll again look to retool that supporting cast. 

Mark Canha, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

Dodgers outfielders as a whole ranked in the top five in baseball in WAR though some of that is weighed heavily by the year Mookie Betts has enjoyed. Jason Heyward, in particular, produced above expectations after a miserable two seasons to end his time in Chicago. Los Angeles could look to stabilize some of their outfield production this offseason. 

San Jose native Mark Canha has hit a combined .265/.360/.408 on the year between the Mets and Brewers with 25 doubles and 11 home runs, production in line with his career marks. Most of his time has come in the outfield corners but Canha can also cover first base, not that Freddie Freeman takes many days off. 

Brooks Raley, LHP, New York Mets

The Mets hold a $6.5M team option on Raley for the 2024 season (with a $1.25M buyout) that they're likely to exercise. Even if they don't see a place for Raley in their bullpen he should have some trade value as a veteran left-hander with a lengthy track record. Raley has made 124 appearances for the Rays and Mets over the last two seasons, totaling a 2.78 ERA and 1.116 WHIP. 

LA's bullpen has been an asset with a trio (Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol, and Caleb Ferguson) of lethal arms at the backend. The group has been helped by some surprise performances this season, notably that of Ryan Brasier, and the Dodgers will hope to strike gold again this offseason with the right additions. 

Kyle Hendricks, RHP, Chicago Cubs

The Dodgers are deep in starting pitching but there will be questions this offseason. Clayton Kershaw will presumably re-sign, as seeing him in any uniform other than Dodger blue would be a shame, but Julio Urías will likely depart. There are young arms who will certainly factor into the club's plans but there is reason to think they will pursue a veteran arm on the free-agent market. 

Hendricks has spent his entire 10-year career with the Cubs but he could depart this winter. For his career he holds a 3.47 ERA and has won 93 games, but joining a contender near his hometown could be a big factor as he makes his decision. Not to mention working with former Cub and current Dodger pitching coach Mark Prior.
