Seiya Suzuki is off to a historic start with the Cubs

When the Chicago Cubs signed Japanese star outfielder Seiya Suzuki, they hoped he could provide a much-needed spark in their lineup.

So far, he has done just that.

Heading into Monday's game, in just 25 at-bats and nine games, Suzuki is rolling, hitting .400 with four homers, 11 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.503. He would go on to notch two hits against Tampa Bay on Monday afternoon.

In fact, Suzuki has made a little history in the process as well.

According to Watch Marquee, the Cubs’ TV channel, Suzuki is the first Cubs player since 1945 to have begun their career with an eight-game hitting streak.

The young outfielder is off to a historically hot start and is providing the spark that the Cubs hoped he would.

Sizzling Suzuki

It should be no surprise to see Suzuki off to such a hot start, as he is one of the game’s most highly-touted young stars and is a tremendous hitter.

Perhaps having picked No. 27 as a nod to Mike Trout helped him out a little.

To make a little Cubs history in just his first eight games is incredibly impressive, especially given the fact that something like this has not been done since all the way back in 1945.

Suzuki appears to be just what the Cubs need early on this season.

He could be a major piece for them in the future as they look to bounce back into contention after a dismal 2021 season.

So far, his contributions have been huge.

We’ll see if Suzuki can stay hot and lead the Cubs to contention.
