Seattle Mariners Catcher Tom Murphy Thrown Out After Arguing Brutal Call

The Seattle Mariners can't catch a break on Tuesday night against the New York Yankees.

After losing 10-4 on Monday night, the M's trail New York, 8-2, at the time of this posting.

To make matters worse, Mariners starting catcher Tom Murphy was ejected in the bottom of the sixth inning after a brutal exchange from the umpiring crew.

With Michael King pitching, Murphy checked his swing. It was fairly evident on replay that Murphy didn't go, but the Yankees appealed down to first base umpire CB Bucknor, who called it a swing.

Murphy had some choice words for Buckner, but was quickly thrown out by home plate umpire Brian Walsh.

Yankees fan and podcast personality Gary Sheffield Jr. tweeted:

Umpires absolutely stink. You blow the call, now you eject a player that’s upset you changed his at bat? It’s gotten out of control

Seattle radio personality Justin Barnes had this to say:

Big umpire fan here, love seeing my guys shine under the bright lights.

If the Mariners go on to lose this game, they'll fall to 28-27. A win would move the Yankees to 34-23.

The two teams will wrap up the series on Wednesday at 9:40 p.m. ET.
