'San Fransico' Giants hats sell out

It was reported Monday that the MLB Shop had released a San Francisco Giants cap with a brutal misprint, spelling out "San Fransico" on the hats.
Now, the attire has apparently sold out.

According to The San Francisco Standard sports editor Ethan Kassel, the "Pro Standard Black 2012 World Series Old English Snapback Hat" was being sold on the MLB Shop website, celebrating the Giants title from 11 years ago.

"Though MLB’s merchandise is mostly run through apparel manufacturer Fanatics, the hat comes from Pro Standard, a luxury sportswear brand that describes itself as offering 'authentic apparel collections and premium licensed headwear with 100% hand-made goods, authentic leathers, suedes, & exotic fabrics for the NBA, NFL and MLB,'" Kassel wrote. "The site offers other officially licensed MLB hats, including a series of snapbacks with various patches and icons alongside the team’s normal logo. Their other Old English snapbacks appear to spell team location names correctly."

Dennis Young of SFGATE reported Wednesday that the hats were "quickly pulled" from MLB's official website, but they still appear on Nordstrom and show up as "sold out."

The hats aren't the only recent Giants apparel to go viral for a misspelling, though the "Arson Judge" jerseys flooding Yankee Stadium on Opening Day last week were, of course, no accident. Prior to 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge re-signing with the New York Yankees on a massive contract extension over the winter, it was erroneously reported by insider Jon Heyman that "Arson Judge appears headed to Giants."

The Giants (2-2) have opened up their 2023 regular season with four straight road games. Their home-opener is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. ET on Friday against the Kansas City Royals.
