The Milwaukee Brewers snuck by the San Francisco Giants in a 3-2 victory Thursday. In that game, Corbin Burnes and Carlos Rodon combined for 17 strikeouts and kept the offenses off-balance all night.

Tonight, we could end up seeing the same thing. Both teams have struggled to make contact with the ball all season and continue to put up really bad strikeout rates.

San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

The Milwaukee Brewers will send out Brandon Woodruff for tonight's game. In the three games back since landing on the injured list, Woodruff has a 2.19 xFIP with 41.5% of strikeouts and just 4.6% of walks.

He's been sensational. Compare those numbers to his 7-3 record and 4.01 ERA. Woodruff is still allowing a high amount of line drives and inducing a low amount of grounders, but the reality is that four of every 10 batters faced strikeout.

Balls in play don't matter when Woodruff is striking out batters at this rate.

The Giants have struck out 26.6% of the time against righties in the last 30 days using their projected lineup. Corbin Burnes struck out 10 yesterday and Woodruff can do the same.

The Giants have a .148 ISO and wOBA of .289 against righties in those 30 days and, again, have eight of nine batters striking out 20.5% of the time or more against righties.

Meanwhile, Alex Wood will give it a go for the Giants tonight. Wood has a 6-7 record and an ERA of 4.43. However, Wood has been much better analytically in the last 30 days.

Wood has a 3.98 xFIP with 23% of strikeouts and 5% of walks. He's also inducing 47.1% of grounders, which has helped his cause. The left-hander has struggled more against righties, giving up a .346 wOBA and ISO of .221 to his last 77 right-handers faced, but overall, he'll take on a Brewers lineup that has struck out 24.2% of the time with their projected lineup against righties.

The Brewers certainly have more power in their lineup and will have at least seven righties to face the lefty. While Wood should pitch a solid game for the Giants, he has the worse matchup going up against this Brewers' right-handed heavy lineup that has a .207 ISO and wOBA of .383 in the last 30 days against lefties.

Therefore, I'll take Woodruff and the Brewers on the road, with the moneyline.
