With Ryan McMahon penciled in to play third base, that leaves a few considerable options for the 2016 National League MVP Kris Bryant. Just hours before the Colorado Rockies’ first Spring Training game against last year’s National League Pennant winners and division rival, the Arizona Diamondbacks, it’s been revealed that Bryant will be the starting first baseman for the Rockies in 2024. By the looks of it, he’ll mainly start at first. Bryant will also be getting at-bats as the team’s designated hitter and spending some time in the right field. Now fully healthy, Kris Bryant must prove his worth with the Rockies, especially after signing a seven-year, 182-million-dollar contract in the 2022 offseason.

Kris Bryant is Ready to Revitalize His Career

Kris only played in 80 games with the Rockies due to various injuries. In seven of those games, he started at first base. Also, it was his first time at the position since 2021. Before last season, he only made 23 starts at first base. Bryant is by far the most experienced positional player on the Rockies roster. It’s for the best that he transitions to first base and tries to revitalize his career after a few rough seasons. Nolan Jones played third base with the Rockies Triple-A squad, the Albuquerque Isotopes. Although Jones looks to break out in 2024, Ryan McMahon has held the position for a longer time and has been with the team for longer.

Greatness Always Moves to First Base

Many greats have moved along to play first base. Whether from old age, injury issues, or preference for the position. Hall of Fame legends like Ernie Banks and Micky Mantle move to first base after dealing with injuries. Phillies’ own Bryce Harper is moving from being the team’s right fielder and designated hitter to first base this season! Kris Bryant and the Colorado Rockies have the opportunity to turn things around in 2024. This team has something to prove after putting up the worst record in the National League and in franchise history in 2023. The 2016 National League MVP Kris Bryant is largely determined for better days and a comeback 2024 season.
