Report: Reds' Mike Moustakas, Nick Senzel appealing MLB-mandated coronavirus absences

Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel don't want to miss any more games, and now they're doing something about their Major League Baseball-mandated absences.

The Cincinnati Reds duo has missed three games due to coronavirus concerns, and they're now appealing to a panel of league and union representatives to get back on the field after testing negative for COVID-19, according to C. Trent Rosecrans and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Both players reported coronavirus symptoms before Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Moustakas and Senzel haven't had any symptoms since and both have recorded multiple negative tests.

Moustakas believes he had food poisoning, while Senzel was reportedly battling a head cold.

Both players have satisfied the league's requirements surrounding the coronavirus, but haven't been able to return to play as MLB continues to deal with the Miami Marlins COVID-19 outbreak.

Without Moustakas and Senzel in the lineup, the Reds have lost three straight games and own a 1-4 record in the NL Central.
