Report: Mets agree to deal with Albert Almora Jr.

The New York Mets have reportedly landed their outfielder. It's just not George Springer or Jackie Bradley Jr.

According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Andy McCullough, the Mets have agreed to a deal with Albert Almora Jr. He is expected to receive a major-league deal with decent incentives, per MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

Almora fits need as strong defender and righty hitter and should get decent playing time. Expected to be MLB deal with decent incentives.

The 26-year-old has spent his entire career with the Chicago Cubs, slashing .271/.309/.398 in 489 games. He helped the club capture a World Series title in 2016.

Almora Jr. is considered a strong defender despite having no Gold Gloves to his name. He'll compliment Brandon Nimmo, who is a solid hitter, in the outfield.

The Mets missed out on Springer, who opted to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays, and likely are now out of the Bradley Jr. sweepstakes.
