Connor Phillips was born in Houston, Texas, on May 4, 2001. He played high school baseball at Magnolia West High School in Magnolia, TX. He was the fifth-ranked RHP and the eighth-ranked overall player in Texas. Phillips in his senior season went 12-3 with a 1.13 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 92.2 innings. Phillips was ranked the 21st RHP nationally and the 61^st overall high school player. He committed to play college baseball at Louisiana State University but instead enrolled at McLennan Community College.
