Phillies' World Series tickets among the most expensive in MLB history

If you're a Phillies fan looking to watch your team play the Houston Astros at Citizens Bank Park next week, you may have to break your piggy bank wide-open because those tickets are pricey.

According to the Delaware News Journal, the high demand for tickets to Games 3, 4 and 5 of the World Series in Philadelphia is so high that it has driven ticket prices to upward of $3,200 a piece — the second-highest total in MLB history.

Per the report, the cheapest price for a ticket to Game 3 — the Phillies' first home game — on Halloween night is for standing room only at just under $1,000 on StubHub. The prices go up exponentially for Games 4 and 5 and greatly outdo the prices for tickets in Houston, where the average price for Astros fans to watch their home team doesn't top $1,500.

"We've seen tremendous demand from baseball fans during the playoffs — this year's ALCS and NLCS saw 36 percent higher ticket sales per game on StubHub than the 2021 Championship Series," StubHub spokesperson Adam Budelli revealed in a statement, via CBS Sports. "Excitement is already strong for the World Series, especially in Philadelphia, where pent-up demand for the Phillies' first championship appearance since 2009 is reflected in what we are seeing fans are willing to pay compared to the games in Houston."

The outstanding ticket prices in Philadelphia are second only to the 2016 Chicago Cubs, whose World Series tickets sold for over a whopping $6,600.
