Philadelphia Phillies reliever Jose Alvarado has received a three-game suspension for inciting a bench-clearing brawl in a game against the New York Mets on Friday, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Alvarado has also been fined and is appealing the suspension.

The incident occurred after Alvarado punched his glove and gestured to Mets outfielder Dominic Smith after he struck him out with the tying run on third base.

Mets manager Luis Rojas blamed Alvarado for the scuffle, saying, "He was trying to get his attention, trying to start things."
Smith also called out Alvarado after the game, essentially challenging him to a fight.
