Phillies' Bryce Harper takes fastball to the hand, exits game against Padres

The Philadelphia Phillies season may have taken a disastrous turn on Saturday night.

Reigning National League MVP Bryce Harper left Saturday night's game against the Padres after taking an Ian Snell 97.2 mph fastball to the hand.

In the top half of the fourth inning, facing Padres starting pitcher Ian Snell, Harper was hit in the hand with a fastball, sending the Phillies outfielder to the ground in pain.

Snell's pitch was up and in on Harper, giving him no time to react. The pitch appeared to hit Harper in the left hand.

Harper has dealt with several injuries this season. Most recently, Harper missed three games due to an infected blister on his right hand. He's also been managing an elbow strain that has limited him to designated hitter duties within the Phillies' lineup throughout much of the season.

In 63 games this season, Harper is batting .320/.385/.602, with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs.
