Mets Expected to Sign Younger Brother of Superstar Slugger

Brotherly love.

According to Mike Mayer of Metsmerized, the New York Mets are expected to sign Vladi Miguel Guerrero during the 2024 international free agency period.

Vladi is the younger brother of Toronto Blue Jays superstar slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the son of longtime great Vladimir Guerrero Sr. 

The Mets already acquired Luisangel Acuna at the trade deadline last season, who is the younger brother of Atlanta Braves MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. 

Vladi is a 17-year-old from the Dominican Republic, which is where his father and brother both came from before Major League Baseball.

Unlike the rest of his family, Vladi is a left-handed hitter.

While the Mets have not confirmed the rumors since international free agency begins in January, there are several videos on social media that have emerged of Vladi wearing Mets gear.

The Mets are hoping that Acuna and Vladi can develop into similar versions of their star brothers.
