Mets ace Jacob deGrom could make one more rehab start?

Reports surfaced earlier on Friday that New York Mets ace and two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom was on track to return from the injured list to start in Tuesday's home game against the Colorado Rockies.

Those stories may have been premature.

According to Thomas Harrigan of the MLB website, Mets manager Luis Rojas told reporters ahead of Friday's game at the Miami Marlins that deGrom will take the bump Tuesday, but it hasn't yet been determined if that appearance will be another rehab start.

The 32-year-old notched eight strikeouts and pitched three scoreless innings in Thursday's rehab outing for the Low-A St. Lucie Mets against the Palm Beach Cardinals. He hasn't pitched for the MLB Mets since May 9 because of right side tightness but still leads the league with a 0.68 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 14.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

The Mets could use any good news these days. Ahead of Rojas' comments, New York added first baseman Pete Alonso and right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter to the IL. Those two along with deGrom are among 16 Mets players on that list heading into the weekend.
